The actress Petta Frederick was born Andrea Lotte Catrin Fröhlich in Berlin. She grew up in an artistic household—her father, Max Fröhlich, was an antique dealer and painter, and her mother, Charlotte Fröhlich, was a milliner.

Petta Frederick made her film debut in 1929 in the movie “Das Schweigen im Walde” (29) directed by Wilhelm Dieterle. Her co-stars included Rina Marsa, Wilhelm Dieterle, Julius Brandt, and Gretl Berndt. This was followed by the film “Geheimpolizisten” (29).

Her last films were made as early as 1930.
In one, she appeared in the film “Der Schuss im Tonfilmatelier” (30) by Alfred Zeisler alongside Gerda Maurus, Harry Frank, Paul Kemp, Ewald Wenck, and Ilse Korseck; in the other, she played a role in the production “Namensheirat” (30) with Evelyn Holt, Erika Dannhoff, Wolfgang Zilzer, Walter Rilla, Grit Haid, and Oscar Marion.

When the Nazis came to power, she emigrated to France, where she lived in Paris. There she married the film distributor Boris Jankovski. She lived in France until her death and did not return to Germany.
