Bernhard Schwidewski

The production designer Bernhard Schwidewski learnt the profession of an interior designer and window dresser and he studied among others by Hans Poelzig.

It followed journeys as a archaeologist with Baron de la Grone before he worked as a production designer for a movie for the first time in 1907 called "Eine Mesallliance" (07).

Bernhard Schwidewski was engaged more often as a production designer from the middle of the 10s and to his early movies belong "Das geheimnisvolle Zeichen" (14), "Seine Braut" (16) and "Das Kussverbot" (19).

The 20s marked the height of his film career and he created the set for numerous productions.
To these movies belong "Die Tragödie eines Grossen" (20), "Die Uhr" (22), "Kampf um die Scholle" (25), "Des Lebens Würfelspiel" (25), "Herbstmanöver" (26) and "Die Heiratsfalle" (28).

His last cinematical works came at the beginning of the 30s into being with "Die Jagd nach der Million" (30), "Der Bettelstudent" (31), "Die Frau von der man spricht" (31), "Alte Kameraden" (34) and "Friesennot" (35).

Besides his activity as a production designer Bernhard Schwidewski also composed few operettas.
