The actress Chrissie White, born as Ada White, began her film career
already at the age of 14.
Sie made her film debut with "The Cabman's Good Fairy" (09) and from
1910 she became popular in the role of Tilly in movies like "Tilly the
Tomboy Visits the Poor" (10), "Tilly's Party" (11), "Tilly and the Dogs"
(11) and "Tilly and the Nut" (15).
Besides these movies she became one of the first British movie stars
with short movies directed by Lewin Fithhamon.
To her countless productions of the 10's belong "The Mermaid" (12),
"Love and a Burglar" (13), "The Basilisk" (14), "The Nightbirds of London"
(15), "Molly Bawn" (16), "Face to Face" (16), "The Failure" (17), "Daughter
of the Wilds" (17), "The Secret" (18), "The Hanging Judge" (18) and "The
Kinsman" (19).
Her impressive career came slowly to an end in the 20's. She got married
with her frequent film partner, the actor and director Henry
Edwards in 1922.
To her last silent movies belong "Aylwin" (20), "The Amazing Quest
of Mr. Ernest Bliss" (20), "The Bargain" (21), "The Naked Man" (23) and
"Lily of the Alley" (23).
She made a short comeback in 1930 and took part in two more movies -
"Call of the Sea"(30) and "General John Regan" (33).
