The actor Leon M. Lion made his professional acting debut in 1897 and he was able to increase his popularity in the next years. 
Besides his acting he also wrote numerous successful plays, some of them were filmed later as well. 

He already joined the film business in 1915, first in silent movies like "Grip" (15), "Hard Times" (15), "The Woman Who Was Nothing" (17) and "The Chinese Puzzle" (19) - based on one of his plays.

Afterwards followed a longer absence from the film industry, only in the 30s he resumed his movie career again. 
To his well-known movies of those years belong the remake of "The Chinese Puzzle" (32), Alfred Hitchcock's "Number Seventeen" (32), "Lady in Danger" (34), "The Amazing Quest of Ernest Bliss" (38) as well as the early TV productions "The Silver Box" (39) and "A Cup of Happiness" (39).

For Hitchcock's movie "Number Seventeen" (32) he was also responsible as a producer.
