1888 - 1969

He began his acting career in 1904 at the theater where he remained active in the next years.

He joined the film business in 1927 and took part in few silent movies like "Second to None" (27) and "The Ware Case" (28).

He became established as a movie actors during the 30s and he impersonated numerous roles in movies like "The Missing Rembrandt" (32) ass Dr. Watson, "After Dark" (32), "The Triumph of Sherlock Holmes" (35) ass Dr. Watson, "Prison Breaker" (36), "Crime Over London" (36), "Dial 999" (38), "The Return of Carol Deane" (38) and "The Lion Has Wings" (39).
He totally played the role of Dr. Watson four times at the side of actor Arthur Wontner who impersonated Sherlock Holmes.

In the 40s followed many other motion pictures, among them "Night Train to Munich" (40), "Jeannie" (41), "This Was Paris" (42), "Sabotage at Sea" (42), "The Life and Death of Colonel Blimp" (43), "Waterloo Road" (45), "Quartet" (48), "Kid Flanagan" (48) and "A Matter of Murder" (49).

Television became a more important factor in his career from the 50s, beside it he continued to act in motion pictures as well. 
To the works of those years belong "Shadow of the Past" (50), "Larger Than Life" (52), "Stryker of the Yard" (53), "Black Orchid" (53), "The Saint's Return" (53),  an episode of the serial "Robin Hood: The Secret" (53), "The Seekers" (54), an episode of the serial "The Count of Monte Cristo: The Devil's Emissary" (56), an episode of the serial "Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde: Good Evening, Mr. Hyde" (56), "High Flight" (57), an episode of the serial "Heidi: Two Visitors" (59) and "Man Accused" (59).

His last cinematical works came in the 60s into being and Ian Fleming was able to work till to his death.
His last movies were "The Flesh and the Fiends" (60), "The Trials of Oscar Wilde" (60), an episode of the serial "Man from Interpol: A Killer with a Long Arm" (60), the serial "The Citadel" (60-61), "What Every Woman Wants" (62), "Alexander Graham Bell" (65), "The Return of Mr. Moto" (65), an episode of the serial "The Prisoner: The General" (67) and an episode of the serial "The Caesars: Claudius" (68).
