The actress Janet Alexander learnt her acting abilities at Henry Neville's acting school and in 1897 she became established as a professional actress on stage, among others with the play "The Prisoner of Zenda". In the next years she took part in many other stage productions and became well-known in England.

In contrast to many of her colleagues she also dedicated to the cinema. To her early silent movies belong "The Treasure of Heaven" (16), "A Fallen Star" (16), "The Village Blacksmith" (17), "The Secret Woman" (18) and "God's Clay" (19).

She continued her career on the big screen in the 20's with "The Hour of Trial" (20), "Henrietta Maria or The Queen of Sorrow" (23), "Back to the Trees" (26), "Not Quite a Lady" (28) and "High Seas" (29).

From the 30's she retired from the stage and the film business gradually, to her last motion pictures belong "No Exit" (30) and "The Compulsory Husband" (30). Only 25 years later she made a single comeback for an episode in the TV serial "Robert Montgomery Presents: The Tall Dark Man" (55).
