. The actor and director Erich Pabst began his career as a theater actor, performing regularly in Berlin from 1919 onwards. He later became a theater director at the Deutsches Theater. He then went on to become theater director of the Bergtheater Thale and the theater in Osnabrück. In 1931, he was appointed artistic director of the Theater Augsburg. Through his work in Berlin from 1919 onwards, Erich Pabst also established contacts in the film industry and played his first film role in the production “Der Tod und die Liebe” (Death and Love) (19). In the following years, he appeared in other silent films such as “Das Haus zum Mond” (The House on the Moon) (20), “Va Banque” (20), Fritz Lang's “Der müde Tod” (21), “Dr. Mabuse, der Spieler” (22), also by Fritz Lang, “Der Mann mit der eisernen Maske” (23) and “Neuland oder Das glückhaft Schiff” (24). After a long break, he appeared in a few sound films from 1938 onwards, such as „Das Protektionskind“ (38), „Die Billanten der Moranows“ (38) and „Kampf um Anastasia“ (38).
