Hans Minzloff


1890 - 1962

The production designer Hans Minzloff grew up in an artistic influenced family - his father Viktor Minzloff was a sculptor.

Hans Minzloff studied architecture and stage painting and he made his first professional experiences in the film business as an assistant of the production designer Ernst Stern. At the beginning he worked for movies without his name in the end credits, e.g. "Das Weib des Pharao" (22) and "Die Flamme" (23).

From 1925 Hans Minzloff became a demanded production desinger himself and he was engaged for the movies "Kampf um die Scholle" (25), "Der letzte Walzer" (27), "Der Bettelstudent" (27), "Robert und Bertram" (28), "Der moderne Casanova" (28), "Liebe im Schnee" (29), "Der schwarze Domino" (29) and "Es flüstert die Nacht" (29).

He continues his film career in the 30s and he created the set for "Donauwalzer" (30), "Eine von uns" (32), "Stützen der Gesellschaft" (35), "Der Kaiser von Kalifornien" (36) and "Der Mustergatte" (37).

During World War II he only took part in few more movies, among them "Falstaff in Wien" (40) and "Moselfahrt mit Monika" (44) and also after the war he got only seldom engagements for creating the set for movies like "Das kalte Herz" (50) and "Gesprengte Gitter" (53).
