Rolf Loer

The actor Rolf Loer was born as Lawrence F. Koehler in Minneapolis. Because he had a musical talent at an early age he was sent to Germany to get violin lessons. At this time he joined the film business in 1917 and he made his screen debut with "Ein scharfer Schuss" (17).

He became very popular in the next years when he impersonated the role of Phantomas in numerous movies.
To these productions belong "Der Teilhaber" (18), "Das gestohlene Hotel" (18), "Der gelbe Schatten" (19), "Die Dame im Auto" (19), "Das Doppelgesicht" (20) and "Professor Larousse" (20).

Afterwards he also played other roles in silent movies like "Der Mann im Nebel" (20), "Krawattenmacher - Der Wucherer von Berlin" (22), "Gaukler der Strasse" (22), "Die Welt in Flammen" (23) and "Schicksal" (25).

Before the outbreak of World War II he returned to the USA where he was engaged as a violinist at the Minneapolis Symphony Orchestra. Later he also gave music lessons.
