Leopold Iwald

The actor Leopold Iwald was born as Leopold Morgenstern in Fünfhaus. He was active as a stage actor in the first place, he started his theater career in Heidelberg in 1892. In the next years followed engagements in Bremherhaven, Flensburg, Wismar, Regensburg and Berlin.
He also got engagements outside Germany, among others in Budapest.

Leopold Iwald appeared in front of the camera in 1919 for the first time for the movie "Die Jüdin von Toledo" (19) directed by Otto Kreisler. In this movie he played Manrique Graf de Lara at the side of Franz Höbling, Theodor Weiss and Josef Jarno.

Afterwards followed "Klein Bobby auf der Fährte" (21) with Julius Strobl, Peggy Longard and Carl Goetz and he impersonated the police chief in "Die Spur im Dunkeln" (21) with Max Devrient, Hugo Werner-Kahle, Louis Ralph, Josef König, Carl Goetz and Julius Strobl.

In his last cinematical work he played a concierge in "Das Mädchen ohne Heimat" (27) with Jenny Hasselqvist, Henry Stuart, Oskar Homolka, Robert Valberg, Hans Lackner, Helen von Münchhofen and Harry Frank.
