Fritz Hofbauer

The actor Fritz Hofbauer came to the theater in 1904 where he appeared among others at the Deutsches Theater by Max Reinhardt.

In Berlin he entered the film business in 1917 and in the next years he took part in the silent movies "Das Mysterium des Schlosses Claude" (17), "Rasputin" (18), "Lucifer" (21), "Du sollst nicht töten" (23) and "Der Meineidbauer" (26).

He continued his film career in the sound film era and he impersonated support roles in the productions "Der Storch streikt" (31), "Wilhelm Tell" (34) and "Standschütze Bruggler" (36).

After Workd War II he acted regular on stage again, first in Vienna, later in the new founded GDR.
He also appeared in front of the camera again for "Die Welt dreht sich verkehrt" (47), "Der Herr aus Zürich" (58), "Der Mörder bin ich" (58), "Der Kirschgarten" (63), "Der Mann mit dem Gewehr" (65), "Der arme Konrad" (66) and "Wie man Karriere macht" (68).

Besides his activity as an actor he also worked for radio plays, moreover he was also the director of the movie "Du sollst nicht töten" (23).
