. The actress Melanie Laurent came to the film business by accident when she accompanied a friend to a filmset whose father was a member of the film crew of "Astérix et Obélix contre César". There she was spotted by Gérard Depardieu who offered her a support role in his next movie "Un pont entre deux rives" (99). This was the beginning of a steep ascending film career which began with smaller movies like "Route de nuit" (00) and changed to bigger productions. To her well-known movies of the next years belong "Ceci est mon corps" (01), "Embrassez qui vous voudrez" (01), "Jean Moulin, une affaire françsie" (03), "Les visages d'Alice" (05), "Je vais bien, ne t'en fais pas" (06), for which she got the Romy-Schneider-Award and the César as the most promising actress, "Le tueur" (07) and "Voyage d'affaires" (08). With her appearance in Quentin Tarantino's "Inglourious Basterds" (09) she managed her international breakthrough and became notion for the audience. Since then she took part in movies like "Le concert" (09), "Beginners" (10), "Requiem pour une tueuse" (11) and "Et Soudain Tout le Monde me Manque" (11). Besides her acting career Melanie Laurent also realised a short movie as a director and writer with "De moins en moins" (08). Her parents are also artistically active, her mother is a ballet dancer, her fater is known as the French voice of Ed Flanders in the animated cartoon serial "The Simpsons".
