The actress Aileen Pringle was born into a very rich family. She already
began her acting career in 1916 at the theater before she rose to one of
Americas darlings from 1920.
To her first movies belong "The Cost" (20), "Earthbound" (20), "Stolen
Moments" (20) with Rudolph Valentino and "My American Wife" (22).
When she signed a contract with a major sturio she became a star. She
was convincing the audience with appearances in "The Tiger's Claw" (23),
"In the Palace of the King" (23), "Three Weeks" (24) - which represented
her final breakthrough, "His Hour" (24), "A Thief in Paradise" (25), "A
Kiss in the Dark" (25), "The Wilderness Woman" (26), "Adam and Evil" (27),
"Body and Soul" (27) and "Dream of Love" (28).
In the talkies she also took part in many productions but her roles
became visibly smaller. To her most popular productions of the 30's belong
"Soldiers and Women" (30), "Murder at Midnight" (31), "The Phantom of Crestwood"
(32), "Jane Eyre" (34), "The Unguarded Hour" (36), "The Last of Mrs. Cheyney"
(37), "Man-Proof" (38), "Too Hot to Handle" (38) and "The Women" (39).
In the 40's followed her last appearances in front of the camera, among
them "Appointment for Love" (41), "The Youngest Profession" (43) and "Laura"
(44).
Aileen Pringle was among others married with the writer James M. Cain
- author of "The Postman Always Rings Twice".
