. The actor Montague Love began his professional career as an illustrator and cartoonist for a newpaper in London. To reports about the Boer War he created detailed illustrations which were added to these reports. But Montague Love wanted to become an actor. He learned his acting abilities at stages in London and finally he went on tour in 1913 which led him to the USA. There he also appeared on Broadway. He remained in the USA and in 1914 he also entered the film business. Thank to his physical appearance he often was engaged for authoritarian roles and Montague Love took part in countless productions in the next years. To these works belong "The Suicide Club" (14), "The Face in the Moonlight" (15), "The Devil's Toy" (16), "Friday the 13th" (16), "The Scarlet Oath" (16), "The Brand of Satan" (17), "Rasputin, the Black Monk" (17), "The Awakening" (17), "The Grouch" (18), "The Green Eyes" (19) and "The Steel King" (19). In the 20s Montague Love became a demanded actor for impersonating villains, roles he played with great enthusiasm. His popularity reached the height in this decade. To his well-known movies of those years belong "The World and His Wife" (20), "Love's Redemption" (21), "Secrets of Paris" (22), "The Leopardess" (23), "Love of Women" (24), "Out of the Storm" (26), "The Son of the Sheik (26) with the legendary Rudolph Valentino, "Don Juan" (26) with John Barrymore, Cecil B. DeMille's "The King of Kings" (27), "Jesse James" (27), "The Noose" (28), "The Hawk's Nest" (28), "The Divine Lady" (29) and "Bulldog Drummond" (29). The transition from the silent movie era to the talkies was no problem for Montague Love and he remained a busy movie actor till to his death. He took part again in numerous important productions which demonstrated again his acting abilities. He acted in the productions "A Notorious Affair" (30), "Kismet" (30), "The Lion and the Lamb" (31), "His Double Life" (33), "Sutter's Gold" (36), "Reunion" (36), "The Prince and the Pauper" (37), "The Life of Emile Zola" (37), "The Prisoner of Zenda" (37), "Tovarich" (37), "The Adventures of Robin Hood" (38), "Kidnapped" (38), "If I Were King" (38), "The Man in the Iron Mask" (39) and "We Are Not Alone" (39). His engagements in movies retained in the last years of his life as well and he played support roles in the movies "Dr. Ehrlich's Magic Bullet" (40), "Northwest Passage" (40), "The Sea Hawk" (40), "The Mark of Zorro" (40), "The Devil and Miss Jones" (41), "Lady for a Night" (42), "Sherlock Holmes and the Voice of Terror" (42), "The Constant Nymph" (43) and "Wings Over the Pacific" (43).
