The actor Kurt Stieler was born in Munich on December 28, 1877. He began his stage career in 1898 and he acted in theaters in Plauen, Görlitz and Lodz.

While he acted successfully on stage, he rarely appeared in films.
He already made his film debut in 1913 with the silent movie "Emilia Galotti" (13). It followed the silent movies "Die Gespensterfalle" (19) and "Der Schicksalstag" (21). After that it lasted many years before he appeared in front of the camera again.

To his few talkies belong "Das Fräulein von Barnhelm" (40), "Friedemann Bach" (41), "Komödianten" (41) and the post-war movies "Kronjuwelen" (50) and "Der fallende Stern" (50).
