1863 - 1941
The actor Ernst Schrumpf was regularly engaged at the theater - among others in Stuttgart, Prague, Zurich and Munich - when he entered the film business at the age of 53.
He made his first movie appearance in "Des nächsten Weib" (16), afterwards followed a longer interruption before he continued his film career in the 20s.
To his well-known movies of those years belong "Die Rattenmühle" (21), "Nathan der Weise" (22), "Im Schatten der Vegangenheit" (22), "Der Mann aus Zelle 19" (22), "Gehetzte Frauen" (23), "Die Galgenbraut" (24) and "Aus der Jugendzeit klingt ein Lied" (25).
It followed again a longer interruption and he did not revive his film career before the sound film era of the 30s. In the 30s he only impersonated few roles in front of the camera.
To his last cinematical works belong "Weisse Majestät" (34) and "Jenny und der Herr im Frack" (41).
