The actress Alexandra Schmitt grew up in a family with a theater background. She already appeared on stage at the Hoftheater in Stuttgart at the age of three.
In later years followed engagements at different German theaters like Bremen and Berlin.
In the capital city she played at the Staatstheater, the Deutsches Theater, the Lessingtheater, at the Volksbühne and the Schillertheater.
She joined the film business in 1927 where she took part in numerous silent movies.
To these productions belong "Pique Dame" (27), "Kleinstadtsünder" (27), "Der Kampf ums Matterhorn" (28), "Hände hoch, hier Eddy Polo" (28), "Tagebuch einer Kokotte" (29) and the title role in "Mutter Krausens Fahrt ins Glück" (29).
In the sound film era of the 30s followed few support roles in the movies "Ihre Majestät die Liebe" (31), "Flucht nach Nizza" (33) and "Mutter und Kind" (34).
