Ludwig Colani

The actor Ludwig Colani was born as Ludwig Cohn in Berlin. He began his artistic career at the Stadttheater Torgau in 1890. It followed tours through Germany and stage engaments in smaller cities.
His way led him also to Berlin in 1899 where he became established as a stage actor too.

His first appearance in front of the camera was "Gräfin Ankarsträm" (10), it followed numerous movies till to the beginning of World War I like "Karl der Grosse" (11), "Der elektrische Funke" (12), "Fürstenliebe" (12), "Der Kampf um das Erbe" (13), "Alt-Heidelberg, Du Feine" (14) and "Die Flammen des Mars" (15).

Finally he was recruted by the army for World War I and he was appointed to the front theater according to his civil occupation.

He continued his film career after the war but he only appeared in few more productions, among them "Der Skandal im Viktoria-Club" (19) and "Lola Montez" (19). His main focus was again on the theater.

Ludwig Colani already died in 1923 at the asylum in Berlin-Buch.

He was married with the actress Louise Maas. His son Victor Colani became a well-known actor as well.
