Corry Bell

1904 - 1985

.
.
The actress Corry Bell was born Margarethe Bauer in Feuerbach. She initially used the stage name Margie Zaran and took part in a beauty contest, among other things. She was then hired by the Emelka company and from then on called herself Corry Bell. She met the Emelka director Kurt Rosen, alias Emil Rosenthal, and the two married in 1926. The marriage ended in divorce in 1931. In 1927, she made her debut in the films “Der falsche Prinz” (27) and ‘Klettermaxe’ (27). This was followed by other silent films such as “Hände hoch, hier Eddy Polo” (28), "Der Herr vom Finanzamt" (28) and "Spelunke" (28).

Her successful film career was limited to the silent film era and was correspondingly short. The fact that she nevertheless achieved a certain popularity during this short period is demonstrated by the fact that in 1927 the Perusa cigarette factory released a cigarette brand named after her.

She only appeared in one sound film, "Liebe in Uniform" (32), before retiring from the film business.

In the mid-1930s, she moved to France, where she spent the rest of her life. She died in Paris at the age of 81.

Other movies with Corry Bell:
Ariadne im Hoppegarten (28) Das letzte Souper (28) Moderne Piraten (28) Was kostet Liebe? (29) Besondere Kennzeichen (29)
