The actor Ernst Arndt first learnt a commercial profession before he followed his new passion - the world of the theater. After acting lessons he made his stage debut in Hamm. It followed among others engagements in St. Gallen, Frankfurt an der Oder, Koblenz and Danzig.
In those years he became especially established as an actor of humorous characters.

Finally he went to the Burgtheater in Vienna where he remained for many years and where he had his biggest successes.

He also appeared in some silent movies and talkies.
To his movies belong among others "Licht und Schatten" (19), "Samson und Delila" (22) and "Die grausame Freundin" (32).

On July 10th, 1942 he was brought to Theresienstadt with Transport 30, after that followed a transfer to Treblinka with Transport Bq on September 23rd of the the same year. Shortly afterwards he was killed in Treblinka.
