. Der Filmkomponist Howard Goodall wurde nebst seiner Filmmusik auch mit sakraler Musik und Musicals bekannt. Er studierte Musik an der Christ Church in Oxford. Beim Film trat er erstmals ab 1979 in Erscheinung als er die Musik zur Serie „Not the Nine O'Clock News“ (79-82) schrieb. 1982 wurde er für die Serie „The Black Adder“ (82-83) engagiert. Die Hauptrolle spielte Rowan Atkinson, für den er in den kommenden Jahren weitere Filmkompositionen schreiben sollte, darunter die international erfolgreiche Serie „Mr. Bean“ (90-95), die Kinofilme „Bean“ (97) und „Mr. Bean's Holiday“ (07), die Trickfilmserie „Mr. Bean: The Animated Series“ (01-16) und den Kinofilm „Johnny English Strikes Again“ (18). Weitere Filmkompositionen schrieb er für die Produktionen „Dead on Time“ (83), die Serie „Blackadder II“ (86), „Murder by the Book“ (87), „Bernard and the Genie“ (91), die Serie „No Job for a Lady“ (90-92), die Serie „The Borrowers“ (92), die Serie „The Thin Blue Line“ (95-96), „The Gathering Storm“ (02), „Into the Storm“ (09) und die langlebigen Serien „Red Dwarf“ (88-17) und „QI“ (03-18). Zu seinen zahlreichen Auszeichnungen gehören der britische Musikpreis „Composer of the Year“ für „Eternal Light: A Requiem“ und er erhielt den Emmy für die Filmmusik zu „Into the Storm“ (09).
