Fred
J. Koenekamp was born in Los Angeles in 1922. He began his career as a
cinematographer in the middle of the 60s with a number of movies of „The
Man from U.N.C.L.E.". The 70s offered him grateful jobs and masterpieces
like „Patton“, „Papillon“, „The Towering Inferno“ - for which he got an
Oscar together with Joseph Biroc - „The Champ“ and „The Amityville Horror“
came into being.
In the 80s Koenekamp concentrated almost exclusive on TV film, only
sometimes he took part in cinema productions.
During his active career he was nominated three times for an Oscar.
