. Der Illustrator Kevin Hawkes studierte das Fach "Illustration" an der Utah State Universität in Logan und konnte danach anfangs der 90er Jahre erste Zeichnungen in Boston für "David R. Godine" publizieren. Schnell etablierte er sich als Illustrator von Kinderbüchern und er stattete seitdem mehr als 50 Bücher mit seinen Bildern aus. Zu seinen Buchillustrationen gehören u.a. Bücher der Schriftstellerin Kathryn Lasky mit "Newton's Rainbow", "The Librarian Who Measured the Earth", "Marven of the Great North Woods" und "The Man Who Made Time Travel", für Bill Grossman "My Little Sister Ate One Hare", "Timothy Tunny Swallowed a Bunny" und "My Little Sister Hugged an Ape" und für "Paul Fleischman "Weslandia" und "Sidewalk Circus". Viele weitere Buchillustrationen entstanden für "Velma Gratch & the Way Cool Butterfly", "Library Lion", "A Big Parade", "Dial a Ghost", "And to Think That We Thought That We'd Never Be Friends", "The Road to Oz", "Boogie Bones", "By the Light of the Halloween Moon", "The Three Mouths of Little Tom Drum", "Imagine That!", "Dogosaurus Rex", "A Boy Had a Mother Who Bought Him a Hat", "When Giants Come to Play", "The Enormous Snore", "Jason's Bears" und "The Turnip". Zudem schrieb er auch einige eigene Kinderbücher, die er illustrierte, darunter "The Wicked Big Toddlah", "The Wicked Big Toddlah Goes to New York", "Then the Troll Heard the Squeak", "His Royal Buckliness" und "Remy and Lulu". |
